India Oil Demand to Accelerate: EIA
[Dow Jones] India was the fourth-largest consumer of crude in 2015 and the country's demand is likely to accelerate through 2017 as India's transportation and industrial sectors continue to expand, says the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Tuesday. Oil price declines since the middle of 2014 and the government's push to increase highway and road infrastructure, and promote Indian manufacturing, are also contributing to India's demand, the agency says. The gap between India's oil demand and supply is widening, as demand in 2015 reached nearly 4.1 million barrels per day, compared to around one million barrels a day of total domestic liquids production, the agency adds.
